Gradbach...

The 'Gradbach Scout Camp', known by those who return time and again through the ages to enjoy its unique and intoxicating beauty simply as 'Gradbach' has played host to magical Scouting experiences for over 50 years...

To those who know and love the site, it's a special place; Gradbach has provided a unique venue for a million childhood adventures, and many of those who frequently visit as mature adults can still recall the excitement of their first camp at the site...hunting for the wild wallabies that made their home in 'Back Forest' beyond the River Dane, losing themselves in 'wide games' in the fields and woodlands surrounding the camp, pretending not to be scared whilst being guided by candlelight through the steep sided gorge of 'Lud's Church' on a midnight hike...endless stories that, although generations old for many of us, will be newly re-created as the brand new experiences of young Scouts who will visit Gradbach for the first time this year!

Overview

Formally known as Gradbach Old Hall Farm, the Scout Camp Headquarters consists of three converted farmhouse buildings; The Farmhouse, The Cottage and The Rover Den.

The Farmhouse and Cottage have been converted to indoor accommodation, ideal for visiting groups to use as a base for indoor and outdoor activities in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside. The 'Rover Den' is also converted for indoor accommodation and is used as the camp headquarters and 'home' of the site Service Crew.

The camping grounds cover a total of 48 acres of land. Of these, 23 acres are designated as plantation covering the southern end of the site along the northern slope of the Black Brook River. The remaining area is split into 17 camping sites, offering a varied choice of environment catering for everything from large static camps down to small bivouacs hidden away in the woodland!
